The relationship manager
Everything that
matters to you two.
Anniversaries, trips, the small things you keep meaning to write down. Emberknot is where a relationship keeps its own record — and the thing that reminds you before you have to be reminded by them.
Dates, trips, anniversaries
Nothing important sneaks up on you.
Add a date once and it stays. Emberknot counts down inside the app for free, and on your Home Screen, Lock Screen and watch face with Emberknot+ — so the reminder arrives days before it becomes an apology.
- Anniversaries repeat yearly on their own, including the awkward ones.
- Trips have a shape — a countdown, then the days you are away, then a memory waiting to be filled in.
- Both of you see it. One of you adding a date is both of you having it.
- Reminders you set, at a lead time you choose, in your own time zone.
- One on the free tier, unlimited with Emberknot+ — and nothing is ever deleted if you stop paying.
Moments & memories
The record neither of you
would have kept.
Four ways to put something down, all landing in the same shared thread. In a year this is the part you will actually go back and read.
Notes
A line about the day, written for one person. Not a caption for an audience.
Photos
Kept in the shared thread rather than lost in a camera roll of ten thousand. Part of Emberknot+.
Moods
Six words, one tap. The fastest honest answer to "how are you" ever built.
Check-ins
Home, work, landed, on my way. Chosen by you, sent by you, stored as a word.
Open-when letters
Write it now.
They open it later.
Some things are for later — the night they can't sleep, the morning of the interview, the first evening somewhere new. Write a letter, seal it, and choose when it can be opened.
- On a date — and not a minute before. Your anniversary, their birthday, the day they land, up to three years ahead.
- At a place — when they check in “Arrived” at one of their saved places. The same button they press themselves, so still no location permission and no geofence.
- Whenever they choose — open when you miss me, when you can't sleep, when you need a smile, or a line of your own.
- Sealed means sealed. Until it opens they see the envelope and when it opens — never the words, and the notification never carries them either. You can read your own any time, and you see when it has been opened.
Opening one is a small ceremony: the seal cracks, the flap lifts and the letter unfolds. The free tier keeps one sealed letter waiting at a time; Emberknot+ keeps up to twenty.

Today's question
One question a day.
Answer to see theirs.
Every day there is a new question on Home, and it is the same on both phones. Answer it to see theirs. Until you have both answered, neither of you can peek.
- 366 questions, so none comes round twice in a year.
- Hidden until you both answer — then the two answers turn over together.
- They hear that you answered, never what you said. The words stay in the app.
- Nothing to keep up. Miss a day and tomorrow's question is simply there.
- Free, for everyone — the same on the free tier as on Emberknot+.
What's your favourite thing about autumn?
Sam answered — your turn to see itThe first cold morning you need a coat for, and conkers on the way to work.
The ember in Emberknot
That's your ember.
Keep it lit.
Emberknot is named for it. Every couple has one — the small, warm thing the two of you keep going between you. In the app it is a little flame on Home that glows a bit brighter every day you both show up, and only cools on the quiet ones. No streak to lose on a busy Tuesday: once you have lit it, it never goes out.
- Every day you both reach out — a tap, a note, a move, anything — it grows.
- A day only one of you does warms it a little.
- A quiet day cools it — and today never counts as quiet, because today is not over.
- Five stages, from Smouldering to Blazing, and the last two weeks day by day.
- Worked out on your phones from the timeline they already have. Nothing extra is stored or sent.
Your ember, on Home, right under the two of you. Free, for both of you.
Warm
Warm and steady. Keep it going with Sam.
Long distance
Know what time it is
where they are.
When the two of you are in different time zones, Home shows their clock in one quiet line — so you know whether a tap will land over breakfast or at three in the morning. It is free, and if you share a time zone you never see it at all.
“Probably asleep” between eleven at night and seven in the morning, their time. It comes from the time zone on their phone, not from where they are.
Live ActivitiesEmberknot+
You decide what is allowed to interrupt you.
A Live Activity is a session on your Lock Screen — no unlocking, no opening the app. Six things can start one, every one of them is a switch, and every one of them starts off.
Try the switches. They are real toggles, not a picture of some.
Lock Screen sessions are part of Emberknot+. The events behind them — taps, countdowns, check-ins — all work on the free tier; Emberknot+ is what puts them in front of you without opening the app.
When they tap you
A session opens on the Lock Screen and stays for as long as you both keep tapping.
On a countdown day
The morning of an anniversary, a trip, or anything else you put on the calendar.
When one of you checks in
You press "home" or "landed" yourself. No geofence, no background location, and no coordinate on a check-in — ever.
At a time you pick
A standing window — every evening at nine, say — with a quiet-hours range it will not cross.
On a streak milestone
Seven days, thirty, a hundred. Shown, celebrated, and never taken away for missing one.
When their mood changes
Only if they chose to share it, and only for the moods they marked as shareable.
Us
Two people, over time.
Days together, taps exchanged, the streak, the next thing coming. Presented as a record rather than a scoreboard — there is no target to hit and nothing to lose by having a quiet week.
- The streak is mutual — it counts days you both tapped, so it can never be one person carrying it.
- Nothing resets punitively. A missed day ends a streak and starts a new one. That is all it does.
- No leaderboards, no comparison to other couples, no engagement score.
The promise
We never read your location.
“Check in” is a word you press, not a coordinate we read. Emberknot asks for no location permission on either platform, runs no geofences, and does no background location work — it cannot tell when you arrive anywhere. The only coordinates it holds are the pins you typed onto the Atlas yourself, rounded to about a hundred metres so a dot can sit on a globe.
- No location permission is requested on either platform.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, no data brokers.
- Report, block, and disconnect are one screen away, and disconnecting is instant on both sides.
- Delete your account and the record goes with it. There is no thirty-day shadow copy.

the record.
