You cancel in your phone's own subscription settings — we cannot hold on to you, and would not want to.

What can we do for free?
Use Emberknot every day. Send the four everyday taps — Thinking of you, Miss you, Good night and Good morning — write five notes a day each, share how you are feeling, say you got home, react, and keep moments in your timeline. Answer Today's question together, keep one open-when letter sealed and waiting, and watch the Ember on Home. You also get one date or countdown, one place each, Date Night with the starter wheels and one of your own, Cup Pong to play together, and your first photo and voice note to try. It is not a trial and it does not run out.
What does Emberknot+ add?
Everything else: the other four taps (Love you, Hug, Proud of you, Got you), unlimited notes, photos and voice notes, Questions, all twenty-two games, up to twenty sealed open-when letters at once, expanded Date Night (up to 50 wheels of 40 ideas), up to twelve places each, unlimited dates, every theme (the holiday ones too), fifteen shared app icons, the Atlas, and the widgets, Lock Screen and Watch — Emberknot without opening Emberknot.
Do we need the same kind of phone?
No. One of you can be on an iPhone and the other on Android - everything you share goes back and forth between the two, and one Emberknot+ subscription still covers you both, whichever store it was bought in.
Do we both need to pay?
No — only one of you needs to subscribe. Whoever subscribes pays through their own App Store or Google Play account, and their connected partner gets Emberknot+ too, with nothing to accept. If you both subscribed, you would both be billed, so it only takes one. Paid access belongs to your shared space: if you disconnect, the partner who did not buy it loses Emberknot+ immediately, while the buyer’s App Store or Google Play subscription keeps renewing until they cancel it in the store. A refund or chargeback removes Emberknot+ for both of you.
How does the free trial work?
The three free days are for Emberknot+ only, for people new to it. After them it renews on the plan you chose — US$5.99 a month, or US$49.99 a year — unless you cancel. On iPhone, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial or period; on Android, cancel before it ends. Either way you do it in your phone's own subscription settings, and the free tier carries on either way. We do not ask you why you cancel, and there is no retention flow designed to wear you down.
What if we stop paying?
Nothing you made is taken away. Every tap, note, photo, voice note, question and game stays where it is, and you can still read all of it. What stops is sending more of the Emberknot+ things: the other four taps, photos, voice notes, new questions and game moves. Premium themes go back to a free one and the widgets go quiet; the app icon stays as it is. Dates, places and wheels you already have stay, and letters you already sealed still open when they are meant to — you just cannot add more past the free limits until you subscribe again. You can always end a game by resigning it.
Why is so much of it paid?
Because it costs money to run, and we would rather charge the people who use it than sell anybody's attention. Photos and voice notes are stored for you, games and questions run on our servers, and every tap is delivered to a phone in real time. Free is a real, everyday version of the app; Emberknot+ is the whole of it, for $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year, for both of you.
Can I block someone without paying?
Always. Report, block, disconnect and delete your account are free forever and reachable in one step, and they always will be. Putting a safety control behind a payment is indefensible at any price.
Is there a yearly plan?
Yes. Emberknot+ is US$5.99 a month or US$49.99 a year, and either one covers both of you. Both start with the same three free days for new subscribers. Yearly works out at about US$4.17 a month, around 30% less than twelve months of monthly. It is billed once a year by the App Store or Google Play and renews yearly until you cancel. You can switch between the two at any time: on iPhone in your subscription settings, where moving to yearly starts straight away and moving to monthly waits for your next renewal date; on Android from the Emberknot+ screen, where Google Play switches you straight away and credits what you have already paid. You are never charged for both.
Is there advertising?
None, ever. The subscription is the entire business model. Nobody's attention is sold, and nothing about either of you is shared with advertisers.
